Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manifesto for Growth

40. Avoid fields.
Jump fences. Disciplinary boundaries and regulatory regimes are attempts to control the wilding of creative life. They are often understandable efforts to order what are manifold, complex, evolutionary processes. Our job is to jump the fences and cross the fields.

A prof. gave me a scenario today of what would I do in this situation. Lets say I was to holding an art galley that had pictures of erotic materials. Some pictures were posted on the gallery windows. A congress woman walks by and is utterly offended, she calls up her "friends" to have the art show shut down. What would you do in that situation? I said call up city hall and protest. People are always going to be offended and try to take you down. You got to be able to fight back, because if you don't protect your art, nobody will. If you really believe in free speech, you better defend it!
